How does the Internship Program work?
Students selected for the Internship Program will participate in a 20-week intern assignment where they will work closely with Project Managers in their assigned areas. Students will receive a review midway through the program and an evaluation at the end. This internship is flexible and we will work around students’ class schedules and activities. Internships are considered temporary positions and do not guarantee full-time employment commitments; however, candidates may be considered for full-time positions upon satisfactory completion of the program.

Is the ABA flexible with work hours?
As an intern, you will work with your Project Manager to create a schedule that works for you. Interns are required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, but remember that what you get out of an experience depends on what you put into it.

Do I have to show up at ABA’s offices daily?
What makes this position unique is that interns are able to work remotely, saving on both travel time and cost. While there may be times when face-to-face communication is required, the majority of meetings, seminars and reviews are conducted virtually.

How difficult are the jobs/tasks?
As an intern, your job will be challenging with a great deal of responsibility as well as an opportunity to learn and experience things you would not be exposed to in a classroom setting.

What is ABA College?
ABA College is an education program we provide to all of our interns. The purpose of this program is to set you up for success, providing the knowledge and experience you need to achieve your future goals. And it doesn’t look bad on a resume, either!

Is it possible to intern for another 20 weeks after my first 20 week session is completed?
Yes, we accept interns for an additional session if the first session is completed satisfactorily. The education will be more advanced and the work more intense and challenging. We will be providing top-notch, real-world experiences and education.

How large is the ABA Intern Program and what schools are involved?
There are 12 pre-recruited schools for the intern program: Carnegie Mellon, Indiana University, Miami University, Ohio State University, Ohio University, Penn State University, Purdue University, University of Cincinnati, University of Illinois, University of Michigan, University of Kentucky, and University of Pittsburgh. Currently, we have 15 positions to fill on an on-going basis.

What majors are accepted?
All majors are considered and accepted; however, preference will be given to candidates with majors in the field of the position they are seeking.

What is a day like as an intern at American Beauty Association?
The environment is fast-paced with a great deal of ownership and responsibility. Interns will be able to apply what they have learned in the classroom to their work, and vice-versa.

How long does the process take?
The length of the process varies. For some it will only be a few weeks, and for others the process could take several months.
